Nuad Phaen Boran roughly means “massage in the ancient tradition” and refers to traditional Thai massage. It is a Thai practice passed down through generations. Its traditional teaching uses rhythmic pressure along the ten Sen lines and passive stretches; these lines are a traditional model, not a structure established by Western anatomy. Historical depictions of massage have been documented at Wat Pho in Bangkok since the 19th century.

Sen lines are a traditional concept within Thai massage. In practice, the ten principal lines are central to the system. Our massage therapists work along these lines using thumbs, palms, forearms, elbows, knees and feet. The Sen belong to traditional Thai teaching and are not a model established by Western anatomy.

Thai massage can be firm, but it should not exceed your personal comfort limit. We agree the intensity with you before and during the treatment. Please tell us immediately if pressure or stretching feels unpleasant, sharp or painful; we will adjust or stop the treatment.

No, the stretches are adapted to your individual range of motion. Beginners, older guests and less athletic people are just as welcome as yoga practitioners or athletes.

That depends on your personal preference. Many guests come every four to six weeks for a regular moment of balance; others only on occasion, before travel or during stressful times. We're happy to suggest a rhythm that suits you after your first visit.

A 60-minute session is a good introduction with focus on one body area. For a complete full-body treatment we recommend 90 minutes, our most common choice. For an extended journey through all energy lines, 120 minutes is ideal.

Please avoid heavy meals in the two hours before your appointment, the passive stretches feel much more comfortable on a light stomach. A light snack half an hour before is fine. Drinking enough water before and after does you good.

Muscles can feel temporarily sensitive after a firm or unfamiliar massage. Do not treat severe, increasing or persistent pain as a normal result of massage; please seek medical advice. Our massages are wellness services and do not replace medical treatment.

During pregnancy, especially in the first trimester, please consult your doctor before booking. Let us know about the pregnancy when you reserve your appointment so we can plan a suitable treatment together.
